Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Nelson is an accomplished global and multilingual executive with more than 35 years of experience. Nelson was awarded the 2020 GCIF recognition as a member of the Top 100 Global Leaders in Finance and was recently invited to become a member of the South Florida Journal - Leadership Trust, a membership exclusive to recognized leaders. Nelson has held partner and global/regional leadership roles in the big four global consulting firms for over 20 years and held C-Suite international positions in large multinationals. He has been highly regarded as an outstanding senior professional in the global M&A advisory and International tax structuring services space. He holds a bachelors of science in public accounting in Venezuela and a masters of science in taxation from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida.

William "Barry" Wethington
Advisory Board Member, Leader Energy Markets Practice
Barry is an accomplished Oil and Gas Energy executive - he has over 25 years of global exploration, appraisal and development experience. During his career he worked for BP Exploration across 7 different countries managing upstream developments, government and partner relations and business developments in General Manager and Vice President roles. He also spent 6 years as a Senior Consulting Advisor to Saudi Aramco where he advised on in-country asset management and also played a key role in creating and progressing their newly formed International Gas business. In addition to advising senior Aramco executives, he was responsible for business development in North America and Africa. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences and a Master’s degree in Energy and Mineral Resources through the Petroleum Engineering College both at the University of Texas at Austin.
Christopher Nystrom
Advisory Board Member, Leader Renewable Energy Practice
Chris is an accomplished energy and alternative energy professional engineering executive with more than 30 years of experience, focusing on energy efficiency and technology related to utility, central plant, and distributed energy. Most recently, he provided technical due diligence and development support to Diatoms Inc. as President of Diatoms Energy. Prior to his financial world experience, Chris started CRC Engineering, PC, eventually merging the company with WSP USA in 2016, where he took on the role of Director of the Northeast and Central Regions of the WSP US Energy practice. In these roles, Chris used his operating, construction, and engineering backgrounds to develop central plant and distribution system solutions for major infrastructure clients such as The Port Authority of NY&NJ, NY Presbyterian Hospital, Brown University, and many more. Before pursuing his engineering consulting career, Chris constructed several cogeneration facilities for Keyspan (National Grid), operated two waste-to-energy facilities, several cogeneration plants, and a few merchant ships. Related career milestones include a 7-year term on the SUNY Maritime College Alumni Association Board of Trustees and 10 years as a development partner in a tire pyrolysis project. Currently, Chris is the leader of the renewable energy practice and serves as an advisory board member at Avzire. Chris holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from SUNY Maritime College, NY Professional Engineering License, was previously certified for NY Special Inspections, and previously held operating licenses, including NJ Red Seal, US Qualified Resource Recovery Operations (QRO) general and site-specific, merchant marine 3rd Assistant Engineer Unlimited Tonnage Steam and Diesel.
Pat Avery
Advisory Board Member, Leader Mining and Extractive Industry Practice
Pat Avery has over 30 years of experience working in the industries of petroleum, chemicals, mining, fertilizer, and construction/project management.
For the first 15 years, he worked for ARCO and Santa Fe Pacific Pipelines in refining and transportation. In the fertilizer industry, he worked for 11 years with JR Simplot, one of the largest privately held agribusiness companies in the USA, where he held senior positions across all key business units such as mining, manufacturing, supply chain, wholesale sales and energy management, managing over 1500 employees, at ten facilities, making dozens of products from chemical fertilizers, industrial products, and water treatment. Avery was also president of Intrepid Potash, where he led all aspects of mining, manufacturing, logistics and sales. He has led several junior fertilizer companies through all key phases of growth and is currently Director of Fertoz an AUS phosphate company with major assets in North America. He Principal and Owner of LDR Solution LLC, a consulting firm for major mining, chemical, fertilizer, project management and private equity companies. Pat has served on several business and not-for-profit boards. Mr. Avery studied biology and chemistry at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He studied civil engineering at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and he holds an MBA from Pepperdine University.
Geoffrey Baker
Advisory Board Member, International Operations
Geoffrey is a senior international finance professional with a specialization in natural resources and oil and gas. He has successfully facilitated bespoke direct investments in the dynamic oil and gas industry and engaged in physical commodities offtake, and fixed income areas. Additionally, he has experience in oil and gas consulting. He is a licensed stock and commodity broker in Canada and has developed tailored products to meet specific client requirements in a wide range of currencies or commodities. Recently, he worked with loan notes representing a diversified portfolio of revenue-generating interests in oil and producing properties that were secured by proven oil and gas resources compliant with NI 51-101. Geoffrey was the lead manager of the Black Gold Fund (a fund allocating in Oil Projects), winner of the 2014 International Hedge Funds Awards and Investors Choice Award Swiss Choice Fund Manager of the Year, and Manager of Active Advisory of IISCH Capital Management. He is currently a senior member of the Avzire Energy markets team and in charge of the international operations development with regards to new global capital sources, as well as an Advisory board member of the firm. Geoffrey has a degree in Industrial design from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, and a combined Bachelor of Art in communications, English, and psychology.
Thomas W. Janes

Mr. Janes is the CEO and Founder of Kerry Capital Advisors, a private investment firm which also acts as a senior advisor to private and public middle market companies. Prior to Kerry Capital Advisors, he was a Managing Director of Lincolnshire Management, Inc. and head of Lincolnshire's Boston office, which he opened in 2003. Mr. Janes has served as a member of the Board of Directors of several Lincolnshire portfolio companies. Prior to Lincolnshire, Mr. Janes was a co-Founder and Managing Director of Triumph Capital, where he served as a senior member of a private equity team that successfully sourced and managed approximately $1 billion in private equity capital.
Mr. Janes’ business experience includes mergers and acquisition and corporate finance transactions while serving as an investment banker with Drexel Burnham, First Boston, Lazard Freres & Co., and as a management consultant at Bain & Company.
Mr. Janes has served on the Boards of numerous private equity-backed companies as well as the following public companies: Alarmguard Holdings, Inc., Ascent Pediatrics, Inc., CAPE Systems, Inc., DairyMart Convenience Stores, Inc., Plymouth Opportunity REIT, and Providence Health Care, Inc. Mr. Janes has also served as a board member for the Harvard Business School Association of Boston, The Boston University School of Public Health and The Arthritis Foundation of Massachusetts. Mr. Janes, a National Merit Scholar, is a graduate of Harvard College, Magna Cum Laude (B.A. 1977) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A 1981). Mr. Janes has served as an alumni representative to the Harvard Corporation Advisory Committee on Shareholder Responsibility.
